Our education system is failing in Illinois. Since 2009, we’ve lost $861 billion in pre-kindergarten, elementary, and high school education funding. That’s an underinvestment in our children, the future of Illinois. To prepare our children for the future economy, we need more than little fixes. We need to reconsider the way we operate our schools to ensure that our kids get their fair share of resources.
To improve education in Illinois, Christian sponsored legislation to:
- Fight for education funding reform. All across the state, our schools are underfunded. Many in the 26th district feel the impact of this directly. Christian is fighting to reform the way we fund our schools, so that all children get their fair share of resources.
- Establish a democratically elected school board for Chicago Public Schools. Christian believes that the public should have more say in the decisions made by Chicago Public Schools, and that is why he is a co-sponsor of a bill to make the Chicago Public School board democratically elected.
